Estrogen is responsible for bleeding and progesterone is responsible to control the bleeding. If the level of estrogen is increased, or the level of progesterone is decreased, abnormal uterine bleeding can be the out come. Birth control pills and stress also play a very important role in causing abnormal uterine bleeding. During stress and using birth control tablets, the hormone production of the body is disturbed which can result in abnormal uterine bleeding. Thyroid glands have their role in causing abnormal uterine bleeding as they can effect the hormone production in the body. Low production of thyroid hormones can create disturbance in balance of the other hormones in the blood and it can cause abnormal uterine bleeding. Uterine cancer or tumor can also be a cause.
