There are a number of causes, but the clinical picture remains broadly similar. Symptoms of Paratitis The symptoms depend on the cause of the parotitis. Symptoms can include swelling, pain that increases when you eat, and dry mouth. Diagnosis of Paratitis If the gland is tender and sore and the skin over it is inflamed, the gland probably is infected. Your doctor can remove some fluid from the gland and test it to see what type of infection you have. Mumps can be diagnosed based on your symptoms and information about your medical history. If another underlying condition is causing the parotitis, your doctor would diagnose the underlying condition first. |
