Introduction
Skullcap is a perennial herb 60cm high covered with hair; known for it’s flower formation and a fruit which looks like a warty nut. Skullcap is found in North America and Europe. The whole plant is employed for medicinal purposes.
Historical Use
Skullcap was introduced into America by Dr.Lawrence Van Derveer in 1772 for the treatment of hydrophobia thus the name,” mad-dog weed”. It was also popular as a tonic, tranquilizer and anti spasmodic.
