Introduction
Urethritis is a condition caused by certain bacteria that are caught from the mouth of a partner’s rectum. This may result in a discharge followed by severe pain in the process of urination. Causes

The diagnosis is usually made by the identification of a causative agent and the treatment is recommended accordingly.

  • Try to maintain a good water intake.
  • All the women who are experiencing the intercourse-related urinary tract infection must urinate after having an intercourse.
  • Both the partners should take good care of the hygiene practices.
  • Safer sex is highly advisable to reduce the risk of STDs especially those related to urethritis.

Treatment
The basic goal of the treatment is to improve the symptoms of this condition, to prevent the condition from spreading to other genitourinary tract organs, to prevent complications and to eliminate the cause of this infection. Antibiotic therapy is often opted for directed towards the specific organism that causes infection. An intravenous antibiotic treatment is not always required. Antibiotics could be accompanied by the analgesics and urinary-tract specific analgesics. Patients should be advised to keep themselves away from the intercourse and it is better to use condoms. Partners should be equally treated.
